GRAND LAKE TO CELEBRATE 4TH OF JULY WITHOUT FIREWORKS

Grand Lake, Colo. – As of 1PM on Saturday July 31, Grand Lake, Colorado Town Trustees came to the unanimous decision (6-0) to cancel the 4th of July Grand Lake Fireworks Extravaganza.  In the wake of the Golf Course Fire, 45 Grand Lake business owners also signed a petition for the cancellation of the show.  The motion stated that the show is cancelled “for the safety and wellbeing of the community and to protect the resources of the town of Grand Lake.”  Mayor Peterson stated “it is with a heavy heart but a clear conscience that the Town made the decision to cancel fireworks this year.  This decision was not taken lightly, and the town looks forward to celebrating the 4thwith a variety of activities.”

Family fun and entertainment is still scheduled in town and Grand Lake looks forward to providing an amazing experience to all of our guests over the next holiday week. New activities are being added throughout the day and old favorites, like the Rotary Pancake Breakfast will continue.  Please follow the Grand Lake Chamber Facebook page for updates and watch for new events.

Please feel free to keep guests informed about fire activity in Grand County with Grand County Office of Emergency Management and CodeRed.  www.gcemergency.com.
