May is a wonderful  month to get out and explore the Arkansas Delta. These great events offer fun for kids of all ages.
lake frierson state park signIf the youngster in your life has ever wanted to learn more about fishing, here’s a great opportunity. Our friends at Lake Frierson State Park in Jonesboro offer a Youth Fishing Workshop on May 6. Kids ages 7 to 15 are invited to spend a day of hands-on learning about the different kinds of fish that call Lake Frierson home and the best way to catch them! The workshop fee is $7. In Helena-West Helena, it’s the 3rd annual Delta delta ducky derby 2016 3Ducky Derby on May 13. Cheer on 1,000 yellow rubber ducks as they “race” towards the finish line! The event also features a variety of children’s activities, as well as a 5K race and more for the adults. For more information, phone 870-589-3396. Proceeds benefit the Humane Society of the Delta.
MRSP wildflowersFor Mother’s Day, Mississippi River State Park in Marianna offers Make a Gift with Love for Mom on May 14. Join the park interpreter to decorate a flowerpot and plant a native wildflower just for mom. Admission is $3. For details, contact the park at 870-295-4040.
